Yes, the hamburger is an American dish. No one would ever want to take the heart of American Cuisine away from the land of the free and the home of the brave. So while the burger’s roots will always remain in the USA, the dish has migrated globally. All cultures are adding their spin on the hamburger, including those south of our border.
The empanada has never gained the popularity of the taco, burrito, and quesadilla on the national American stage. However, to the authentic Mexican foodie, the empanada is simultaneously a treat and a staple. The empanada is made of dough and is usually filled with a tasty meat (ground beef, sausage, chicken, or steak). It will also often include onions, beans or rice, and vegetables and is baked until it reaches pure golden perfection. The empanada is loaded with flavor and will probably become a favorite for those loving Mexican food.
